2018 Italy Enrichment Trip

BANFI VINTNERS FOUNDATION ENRICHMENT TRIP

SOMMSOUTH IS PLEASED TO OFFER THIS ENRICHMENT TRIP TO THE VINEYARDS, WINERIES AND GASTRONOMIC TEMPLES OF ITALY!

TRAVEL DATES: AUGUST 26 - SEPTEMBER 7, 2018

Applicants must be CMS Certified Level(or equivalent) or higher, actively working on the service floor of a restaurant or fine wine shop

Itinerary includes a dozen or more wineries in Piedmont, Verona, the Prosecco zone, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, and Abruzzo; a cooperage, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese dairy, farmhouse stays, family home visits, and winemaker bonding. Sabering not required but encouraged. Participants must be prepared to smell, handle, taste and tread upon terroir; organizers not responsible for tooth enamel removed by tannic young wines, potential addiction to daily pasta course and/or recommended daily dosage of amari, let alone seduction to Italy’s multiple charms.  

Please note that those chosen to participate in this scholarship trip will be representing the South Eastern Sommelier Society and are expected to engage in professional behavior at all times.

- Roundtrip airfare from your home city

- Ground transportation while in Italy

- Lodging in Italy

- Most lunches and dinners, included.

Scholarship to TexSomm

TEXSOM Scholarship, with kind support provided by Kistler Vineyards

Travel dates: August 11-15, 2017

This scholarship provides lodging, entrance to TEXSOM and most meals. This will also be an opportunity to spend a significant amount of time(including a dedicated focus on Blind Tasting) with Master of Wine and Director of Sales and Marketing for Kistler Vineyards, Geoff Labiztke.

The individuals(2) chosen for this scholarship must procure their own round trip transportation to and from Dallas, TX.

The ideal candidate is working in a restaurant, has successfully attempted the Certified Sommelier exam(or equivalent) and has a passion for wine and a desire to learn more.
The winner of this scholarship trip will be respresenting the Southeastern Sommelier Society and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy while traveling.
Deadline for entry is midnight, May 7th, 2017. Winners will be notified shortly after this date.

ROUSSILLON ENRICHMENT TRIP

Travel dates: May 8th - May 13th 2017

4-night stay in Perpignan with winery visits organized in all of the Roussillon region (covering AOP Cotes du Roussillon, AOP Cotes du Roussillon Villages, AOP Maury sec, AOP Collioure, IGP Cotes catalanes, AOP Banyuls, AOP Banyuls Grand Cru, AOP Maury, AOP Muscat de Rivesaltes, AOP Rivesaltes)

The CIVR/Wines of Roussillon will provide Round Trip Airfair, local transportation, lodging and meals. 

The ideal candidate is a Sommelier or wine professional with buying ability/influence at their establishment and who have a passion for wine and a desire to learn more about the Wines of Roussillon.

Must currently have a valid passport for international travel.

The winner of this scholarship trip will be respresenting the Southeastern Sommelier Society and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy while traveling.
